Ideas for magazine cover image/Ideas for magazine cover layout

ØTo look for inspiration for my front cover to my music magazine I have researched into Vibe magazine. I have chosen Vibe  over Rap-up magazine as I particularly like their style and would like to include similar conventions into my own work.
ØI think the image used on the cover is very effective. The images colours works well with the rest of the cover. The image also portrays women as being, sexy, confident and casual.
ØIt portrays this because she is looking directly at the camera, looks as if she taking a picture of the reader, she is wearing jeans and a t-shirt but still looks rich. This is the view of women I would like to portray of women.

Ideas for magazine cover layout

ØThis image shows a magazine front cover of a past issue of “Blender” magazine, a music, celebrity , gossip and entertainment  magazine, As my magazine is aimed at a young target audience I need to include particular conventions of other general music magazines, as I understand my target is attracted to “bright” and “eye catching” objects and are more likely to pick up a magazine which is visually pleasant and has a popular coverimage.

ØThe spaced out cover lines and orange font is what makes this magazine very recognisable,  I would like to include this into my own magazine.

Vibe and Rap-Up Magazine

ØI have decided to use Vibe magazine for my research. I have chosen this magazine because I think it is very successful and it suits the genre of my magazine,  R&B.
ØVibe is a magazine which was published quarterly in the United States Its first issue was in 1993 and its publisher was Time Inc
ØThe language is English and As of 2007 Vibe had a circulation of approximately 800,000
ØVibe made a consistent effort to feature models of all ethnicities in their pages.

ØI have also decided to use Rap- Up for my research as I also think this is a successful magazine and suits the genre of my magazine, R&B.
ØRap-Up is a popular R&B music magazine which is published quarterly 2001 by founder Devin Lazerine
Ø The magazine is not audited, and is sold in more than 20 countries worldwide
